About Whittier Wood Furniture:
Whittier Wood Furniture has been manufacturing quality real wood bedroom furnishings now for over three generations since 1975. Founded by Gordon Whittier and Evert Slijper. The emphasis has always been easy and ready to assemble furniture with attention to quality construction, attractive styling and affordability. Whittier founders possessed extensive lumber experience and knowledge with which they have expanded their product offerings with a network of global resources to include product that is manufactured to their exacting standards and designs. That emphasis is placed in manufacturing furniture using northwest native Alder hardwood species wood. Sought after for its strength, durability and affordability when compared to more expensive hardwoods. One production facility and distribution center is located in Eugene, Oregon, USA. The company also owns a second production facility in Vietnam which is owned and operated by them to the same standards as their USA facility. The family run, Eugene Oregon based organization strives for excellence in product quality, service and the support of our human and global resources. Family tradition continues today at Whittier. Evert Slipjer continues to manage the day to day company affairs of the company while Gordon's son Scott Whittier serves as President and CEO of this family operated Oregon company.
About Standard Delivery Truckline Shipments:
Whittier Wood bedrooms and beds are shipped with a standard curbside delivery truckline carrier. All furniture is delivered new in the manufacturer boxes. Beds will be packaged in multiple boxes. Casegoods such as nightstands and dressers are delivered fully assembled. Typical delivery time is 3-4 weeks with this service. This type of delivery will require someone to be home to sign for and receive the delivery from a semi. If the person placing the order is physically unable to do so, they should schedule the day of delivery for a day when someone can be with them to help receive their shipment. Tracking information is provided once shipped and you'll be able to call to schedule your delivery for a specific day. Optional services may be available for a nominal added fee such as inside first threshold delivery to the door. Should you require additional services please call us toll-free at 888-717-7908 and we can provide pricing and further assistance.
About White Glove Shipments:

"White Glove Delivery Service"
which is an optional service available for an added fee (matching casegoods such as nightstands and dressers can ship with the bed's selected white glove service at no extra cost.) Typical delivery time is 3-4 weeks with this service. Experienced furniture professionals will handle your bedroom furniture carefully and confidently and will bring the boxes into the correct room up a maximum of one flight of stairs. The delivery service will call you and make arrangements for a specific day and time (often within a 2-4 hour window) for delivery of your furniture. Other options such as bed assembly can also be selected for an additional fee. Please call-toll free at 888-717-7908 if you have any special needs for a specific delivery service on your shipment.

Real Wood Construction & Materials Information:
The founders of Whittier Wood, Gordon Whittier and Evert Slijper both had extensive lumber experience and saw the value in the northwest native Alder hardwood species. It has strength, a fine grain and smooth texture. By many local woodworkers, it had been known as the great imitator. The beauty of Alder is that it could be stained to match other more expensive hardwoods at a fraction of the price. The amazing Alder tree is capable of growing to a height of 12'-15' in just 15 months. In 10-15 years, it has reached its mature height of 30'-40'. Today, in part, due to the introduction of Alder to a broader market by Whittier Wood Products, the species is highly regarded and sought after by fine furniture manufacturers around the world. This increase in demand continues to insure support for a decade's long replanting program.
Earth Smart:
Whittier Wood believes that they can provide a high quality product made from natural resources while still supporting our environment. Over 91% of the lumber purchased is shipped as furniture parts. The unusable portion of lumber (such as knots or bark) is cut out and ground into sawdust. This material is reclaimed and sold to make particle board, briquettes, wood pellets and pulp for paper. Whittier use the highest possible amount of recycled paper in their cartons (65%-70%), while maintaining the integrity of the carton. Factory wide, Whittier recycles paper, metal, cardboard, glass and oil.
