The Vermont Tubbs Story:
Vermont Tubbs is one of the oldest and finest names in New England furniture.
Proudly made in the USA. Vermont Tubbs
has a long history of working in wood which dates back all the way to
1840 when William F. Tubbs began steam bending ash to produce durable,
handcrafted, snowshoes and skis. The name Tubbs soon became known for
its excellent workmanship and in the decades that followed they began
adding lines of hand-crafted, bench-built bedroom furniture constructed
with that same commitment to high quality and high value. That success
continues today at Vermont Tubbs which has much to do with its commitment
to its dedicated long-term employees and craftsmen who create beautifully
hand crafted American made furniture that will last for years to come.
We hope that you and your family will be proud to own this furniture
for generations.
The Lincoln Bed by
Vermont Tubbs is also available in a platform bed style. This bed is designed
for just a mattress and will accomodate most brands. No boxspring is required.
What makes this style different is the footboard is designed with more space
beneath it than the style made for a mattress/boxspring (as pictured above).
You can select the style you want below by indicating whether you want your
bed made for a mattress/boxspring foundation or made for just a mattress or platform
style which will include more slats than the previous foundation listed. Pictured Left: Lincoln Queen Size Platform Bed in Sienna.
This Vermont
Tubbs bed uses a slat support system consisting of 2" wide slats banded
together with 4" spacing to create a foundation capable of supporting
most mattresses. No boxspring is required. Hardwood slats will offer greater
support for your mattress.
Rails connect
easily to both headboard and footboard. Threads are manufactured into both
headboard and footboard and bolts are started into those threads. Wing nuts
help to connect the rails and a tool is provided to help secure them together.
The center
support rail slides easily into wood guides built into the headboard and
footboard. Center support legs install beneath this rail for additional
support. Adjusters beneath the support legs allow for easy positioning on
both wood floors and carpet.

Ash
Wood Ash
wood has
high strength and excellent bending properties. A very good wood that offers
high shock resistance and stability. There is low shrinkage with cut ash.
Ash works easily with hand tools. Machines well and can be nailed and screwed.
Pre-boring is recommended due to the hardness of the wood. Ash stains easily
and takes a beautiful finish. Can be stained to look like oak due to the
similar grain structure of the two woods. Ash is best known for its steam
bending qualities. Is used in high end furniture, snow shoes, baseball bats,
barrels, stairways and musical instruments.
